What to Expect from Yoga

The changes in your body and mind from yoga are gradual, but you will begin to notice them immediately. You will start to sleep better right away.  With regular practice, the sense of accomplishment you will feel will keep you coming back to your mat for more!  Within the first 30 days, you should see and feel results in your body. We are all on this journey with you and want you to experience the amazing transformation that comes from a regular yoga practice.  We believe in your ability to find your bliss with yoga!

All of our instructors are here to guide you, and our community will support you as you begin this journey.  Here are some guidelines as to what to expect from your yoga practice.

Week 1

Coming to class several times this week may seem easy, because you’re excited to do something new. You might be a bit sore, but don’t let that stop you.  If you feel pain, by all means stop and rest for a day or so, but muscle soreness will dissipate with continued practice.   You should notice that you feel better, and your stress level is already down a notch or two!

Week 2

This is where it gets good!  You will find that you WANT to come to class; your body is beginning to NEED it!   Try some new classes; play with some new poses, and see what the practice has to offer.  Pay special attention to what you are eating, and make sure you get enough water.  These will have a huge impact on how you feel on your mat.

Week 3

Keep is going!  This is where many people begin to lose their motivation, and the rest of our busy lives try to get in the way of our practice.  But you have done so well; don’t fall off the wagon now!  Come talk to us if you need help.  We understand!  We can help hold you accountable and keep you going.  New habits and lifestyle changes are being created, so it is more important than ever to stay on your mat.

Week 4

If you have made it past the 3 week mark, you should see and feel real physical change by now.  If you have made it to class several times a week and maintained a healthy diet, you should look and feel stronger. You might feel taller even, and you are probably sleeping much better.  And, oh, look how much more flexible you are now!   Come to class as often as you can, and watch the continued transformation.  Yoga is a journey that we can take for a lifetime!
